California Science Center Entry to "World of Ecology"

Los Angeles, CA -

The California Science Center, named by Forbes.com as the most popular museum destination in Southern California, has received more that 18 million visitors since opening in 1998.

AV Design & Installation for the transitional entry to the new World of Ecology Exhibit was provided by CED. The project challenge was in delivering a high resolution viewing experience, wherein the visitor is very close to and between two opposing screens, each 20 ft. tall and 60 ft. wide, with seamless projection characteristics. This challenge was met by utilizing uncompressed, high definition players in conjunction with CED-exact pixel mapping for media production.

Startlingly beautiful 35mm underwater ocean and environmental film footage was provided by Producer/Cinematographer Bob Talbot of Talbot Films. Whereas the exhibit plan called for the visitor to walk thru this fascinating tunnel of imagery, an unforeseen outcome occurred during the grand opening… visitors were sitting on the walkway in order to view the image sequences several times, resulting in a human traffic jam… an outcome for which we are very proud.
